Fall Stripes

I love the stripes trend and want to continue that through the fall and winter. These are inspiring me on how to wear them as it gets a little crisp out!

I love the VMA's. I look forward to watching them every year and see what crazy shenanigans people start, who wins what, and most importantly what everyone will wear! This year the VMA's let me down.. the black carpet was not overflowing with celebs, the people interviewing (besides Selena) were TERRIBLE, and there was NO HOST. HOW CAN THE VMA'S HAVE NO HOST!? And since there was no host I feel like the camera's didn't know who to spotlight or show because there wasn't someone talking about people in the crowd and we ended up seeing the same people over and over again. Oh and that some random guy named Tyler the Creation won best new artist and I had never heard of him before and all he did was use profanity in his acceptance speech. Classy. Boyfriend and I felt old because we didn't know a lot of people who were nominated ... yikes!

But on to the positive. First and foremost my favorite part of last night in more ways than one was Beyonce. She is just beyond amazing. She looked radiant, definitely had that pregancy glow. She absolutely KILLED her performance I mean she left it all out there and showed off her belly at the end! My heart melted when it showed Jay-z in the crowd after the belly flash and how happy he was and him and kanye just jumping up an down.

Secondly Adele's performance gave me the chills. She is an incredible talent and I cannot believe she is only 23. She is so humble and beautiful in her own way. I love that she is so classy and that she embraces her full figure.
Kanye West took the cake for me on style (except for maybe kid cudi but they NEVER showed him and I couldn't find a picture but he had this amazing vest with gold on it). I love Kanye's style and last night when him and Jay performed they just looked so cool. I loved Kanye's denim on denim with the Ombre top. I also was super into Jay wearing a snap back New York hat, Boyfriend loved it too. Something a little different then his usually Yankees cap (although I can't complain with that!)
And it wouldn't be right of me if I didn't mention my main man Biebs. He looked great as always (not 100% convinced about the red pants) with a chic black blazer, YSL pin (loved loved that), and AMAZING cheetah high tops. Him and Selena are so adorable together it kills me.

What did you guys think about last nights VMAs? Who was your choice for best dressed?

Fill in the blank friday

Friday, August 19, 2011

1. My idea of pure perfection would be ...Eden

2. Laughter ...I believe, is one of the most important parts of a relationship. You need to make each other laugh.

3. If it weren't for work and bills and a mortgage I'd .. Be living somewhere that had beautiful weather all the time. I would do things I loved all day long like going to a coffee shop and talking for hours with a friend, I'd buy all my groceries at a farmers market (and always bring home fresh flowers to put around the house), I would cook all the time, fun thing, yummy things. I would craft, go to antique stores, I would decorate and create the most amazingly cozy home. I would travel wherever I wanted whenever I wanted and I would get to spend my mornings on a porch or balcony somewhere dressed cozy with the warm sun on my face while I spend time with Jesus and look out onto a beautiful scenery only He could create.

4. Bloggers are ... inpsiring, helpful, smart, crafty, and encouraging.

5. If I had a million dollars I'd buy .. refer to question number 3.

6. I'm glad it's Friday because ... Many reasons. It's Friday the weekend is here it's sunny outside and I don't have one thing to complain about.

7. Something I'm excited about is ... Life and what's to come!

crazy stupid hot

Thursday, August 18, 2011

Last night I went to see the movie Crazy Stupid Love with my best friend Katie. It turned out to be a really great movie and we both definietly enjoyed watching it. However our most favorite part of the movie wasn't the rom-com, well developed plot, or acting abilities.. it was how Ryan Gosling looked. Now I have been asked on many occasions who my celebrity crush is and I never know what to say. In all honesty there aren't a ton of celebrities that I find wildly attractive or obsess over in any way (well except the Biebs). Boyfriend always talks about his celebrity crushes like Katy Perry and Julianne Hough and I always freeze and end up saying uhhh I don't know I kind of like Mark Walberg? But last night it was solidified that I now know who mine is. I guess, like most girls, it started back at The Notebook. Definitely one of my top favorite movies of all time and I will forever adore the chemistry and coupling of Rachel and Ryan. However I thought that was too cliche and that I didn't really fancy Ryan it was really just an infatuation with the story or Ali and Noah. But last night proved me wrong. Ryan Gosling is crazy stupid hot, a really great actor, and my number one celebrity crush, I hope boyfriend is O.K with that.

And who could EVER forget....

While in Knoxville my friend Meghan took me to the coolest store, Yee-haw. I was immediately obsessed. They specialize in original art like products from letterhead posters. &They make em right there in the store! It was neat to see all the supplies, inks, papers, and letterpress machines. The walls in this place are covered top to bottom in crazy awesome posters. I walked away with a sweet knoxville farmers market poster that I want to frame and hang in my kitchen and I bought my brother in law an incredible poster of a vintage guitar.

Urban Nester---A Guest Post on Southern Weddings

Monday, August 8, 2011

Hey y'all!
[I thought "y'all" was appropriate, considering Anna is on vacation in the South. Plus, I love any excuse to pretend I'm Southern.]
I'm Molly, from Urban Nester, and I'm so happy to be doing a guest post for Anna while she's away on vacation. Don't you just adore her blog?! I know I do!
When Anna asked me to do a guest post on Southern Weddings, I was thrilled! First off, I love weddings and decorating weddings is one of my favorite things to do. Secondly, anything Southern melts my heart, I have always secretly wished I was a Southern girl---So much so, that for my own wedding, I got married in a barn.  Lastly, if you're a follower of mine, creating inspiration boards for fashion, weddings, events, interiors, etc. is a creative outlet for me, and something I spend far too much time doing. I hope you enjoy the Southern Wedding inspiration board I created. It seriously makes me want to redo my wedding in yellow, gold, black, white, and gray.

What are some of your favorite wedding inspirations?
Have a lovely Monday! I would love for you to stop by my blog, Urban Nester, to hear from you!

Guest Post: Hannah Sullivan

Friday, August 5, 2011

Hi! It's Hannah from hannahmichellesullivan! I am so excited to be guest posting for Anna while she is away visiting her friends in Tennessee !! I have always lived in the Northwest and embraced the green state of Oregon... but at the same time I have always been curious about the South ! You always hear about the southern hospitality, the food and the natural vibe there. From an outsiders perspective (someone from the Northwest, like me of course) there are huge differences from the Northwest to the south and most of them pull on my heart strings.

One. The beautiful wrap around porches with the porch swing.. just like you see in the movies. I always picture people from the south drinking an arnold palmer on their porch as the sun sets... you feel my southern dreamy vibe?

Two. The trees in the south just seem different to me... while we have these trees...& although they are beautiful...
The south has these trees... and aren't they dreamy!

Three. I have noticed that the south has such a classy style! I bet if you asked the average girl in the northwest if she knew what Lilly Pulitzer was... she wouldn't know. But I am so envious of the southern style.

Four. I hear football games in the south are incredibly different. I hear they are intense & the women dress up in darling outfits. While we wear something along these lines...
The women in the South wear something along these lines... So fabulous.

Five. Don't get me wrong, I love the food in Portland & in the Northwest.
But I am dying to try some grits!
There is something about the soul of the food in the south!

Even though their are some major difference in the South and there are million things that are similar, but one thing is the exact same....

Younglife is such an awesome program with many amazing people! Anna has been involved with Younglife for as long as I have known her and she has been such a positive influence on so many people. She met her friends in Tennessee while she was on summer staff a few summers ago & I know they are close to her heart. Its amazing how people from all over the United States can come together and serve the Lord, open their heart and are so passionate about the kids who go through Younglife and learn about Jesus!

Guest Post: Michelle from Delighted

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Hey Y'all! I'm Michelle the girl behind Delighted!

While Anna's away this week she asked me to share a bit of my southern roots in honor of her trip to Tennessee. (And I have to admit I couldn't be more exited for her and all the sweet southern fun she's going to be having!)

It's no secret that in the south we love our food. We don't just eat to live, we live to eat. Now don't get me wrong, the food is great year round, but in the summertime it's best. Nothing says summertime in the south like peaches, especially my grandma's peach cobbler.

To make this sweet treat you'll need...

1 stick of butter

1 cup sugar

1 cup flour

1 cup milk

2 cups of sliced peaches

A dash of cinnamon
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a 13x9 pan place the stick of butter and place it in the over until melted.
2. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, flour, milk, and a dash of cinnamon.
3. Take the peaches and pour them into a saucepan and sprinkle with sugar. Stir the peaches on medium heat until soft.
4. When the butter is melted, carefully remove the pan from the oven and pour the sugar flour mixture on top, then place warmed peaches on top. (yes, it'll look messy, and that's just perfect!)

5. Bake for 30-40min, until it's as golden brown as you like :) serve with ice cream and a glass of sweet tea! Enjoy!

Bon appetite y'all!

Heading to warmer weather
