"The Anna" My Version

My sissy has been doing these "series" on her blogs where she puts design inspired by her friends. I begged her to do one for me because my sytle is all over the place and I was curious to see how she saw it and how she saw me. She did a great job but I thought I would try and do one for myself. NIKE 78

Look at these! They are perfect. I have slippers that look like the bottom of these sweet nike slippers and I wear them all the time in the winter. These are the new and improved version! I want them. My friend Nicole who works for Nike tweeted a picture of them and then I stumbled upon it. These images are from a nike project called nike78 which is a creative project put together by Paul Jenkins and inspired by Nike. Creatives receive a brand new pair of Nikes and were asked to use sport as inspiration! These were collected and put on display for the London Design festival. I will post a few of a my favorite here and there. Hope you guys enjoy :)

I would love

A nice camera. I've always wanted one and told myself that when I was older, had more money, and had great pictures to actually take, I would invest in one. I had a great little point and shoot that I got as a christmas gift over two years ago but I unfortunately dropped it off the end of the ropes course in the Canyon. Oops. The darn thing still works but the screen is completed shattered and you cannot see a thing. That is the camera that I have to take to Africa. There's no way. I plan on taking 1234567890 trillion pictures and I want them to come out beautiful. I don't know if splurging on a nice camera is a smart idea because it's such a long travel and where I will be staying has the potential to be a bit crazy I wouldn't want it to get broken. Regardless of my trip I still would die to own a gorgeous camera. I even would love an old one, or even one with film, that could be fun.

Soccer in the Homeland

I recently watched a documentary about the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I was extremely interested in watching this because it pairs two of my favorite things: Sports and Africa. It showed how the World Cup brings lots of tourists and job opportunities to the people of Africa and how it is extremely beneficial to them but also shows how the building of stadiums has displaced communities. I'm not sure where I stand on the opinion of "who really wins" FIFA vs. the people of Africa but I do know this, Africans are proud people. They love their nation and have so much pride and hospitality that even though hard times may come throughout this event the end result is a happy one. One of my favorite parts of the whole documentary was when they ask 5 African's from 5 different countries if they believed South Africa could win the World Cup. Despite the fact that winning the World Cup is near impossible for the South African team let alone making the final four they actually whole heartily believe they are going to win. One man said ...

"I am a patriotic south african. I will never say that south africa will not win the world cup, I still have hope. In actual fact we are like a snake you must not come to our own hole and think you'll get away with it."

Convert

I use to hate flowers. I never liked getting them , thought it was awkward, never liked them in the house, they would just died all over the place, but I think it wasn't that I didn't like the flowers but more that I didn't like the KIND of flowers. My favorite flower has and forever will be the Sunflower. I love them so much. I love the color yellow they are I love how big and tall they grow, and we use to grow them in my backyard. I also have recently fallen in love with Peonies. I feel like I see them everywhere and every time I do I am reminded of how pretty they are.

Like when am I ever going to use a pinata? Oh right.. on my 21st birthday! Fill it with African beer or something. HA

Drew Brees does it again

Just when I thought Drew Brees couldn't get any sweeter he proves me wrong. I still have a smile on my face from the post superbowl celebration where Drew and his son Baylen shared such a special moment(not to mention the cutest thing I have seen so far in my twenty years of life). He is also on a new Pampers campaign complete with commercials and baby cute-ness.But on Father's Day Brees was asked to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium. My heart melted. Think these pictures are adorable? You should see the video.

These are a few of my favorite things

I like having a routine. Certain things I put on, wear, and use throughout the day. These are some of my favorite products that I use! First off Palmers cocoa butter swivel stick is the BEST chapstick in the entire world. It looks like a gigantic glue stick and you can only buy them at Rite Aid (fun fact). The essie nail polish is a new obsession. My friend Hayley got this nail polish in St.Lucia Lilac and a bunch of my friends were putting it on and once it was on it never came off. I usually don't paint my nails because I hate how they look when they're chipped so about once a week after I shower I put another coat on :). Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume is another thing I am addicted to. I always wanted a smell, something that reminded people of me, something that was my own, but perfumes ALWAYS gave me headaches I could never find one that was just the right scent. But I picked this up about two years ago and its been lovely. I recently converted my sister to Sephora blush (color: Bora Bora) its reasonably priced and looks exactly (sometimes even better) than my NARS bronzers I was always having to splurge for. These are a few of my favorite things, what are some products you love?

Breakfast at JCrew

JCrew has a new video on their website of this adorable Audrey Hepburn look alike showing off some of the new arrivals in the store. The idea was adorable with this little pixy trying on all these outfits and dancing around. But the whole time all I could think was.. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. I love that movie. I love Audrey and I love her style in it too. Jenna has done an amazing job of styling shoots and looks lately and I just love the way they set this one up. I have always loved Jcrew and I drool over the catalogs when I get them but within the last year things have really gotten great, really great. If any of you have time I suggest you go check out the video! :) I think I'll go watch Breakfast at Tiffany's now ...

A little TOMS history

So I love TOMS and it's been made pretty clear. But I wanted to know more about the history behind the company and try to answer the question I get the most "why do they look like that?". My sister's friend John knew a lot about TOMS (in fact I think he was the first person I know to own them) and actually has met Blake Mycoskie before at a church in LA. He was telling me that the inspired style of TOMS comes from a type of shoe in Argentina called alpargata espadrilles. Since the whole TOMS movement started when Blake and his sister were on the show amazing race and they traveled to Argentina. He went back to visit in 2006 and after playing soccer with the children realized that most of them did not own shoes. Not only did their feet blister and crack from running around the streets of Argentina playing soccer but most of these children lived miles away and had to walk home barefoot.

"I was sitting on a farm pondering life, and it occurred to me, 'I'm going to start a shoe company, and for every pair that we sell, I'll give a pair to someone who needs them". He returned to the United States and sold his online driver education company to self-finance the shoe company.

Mycoskie's main reason for creating this company to give shoes is a disease called podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease. Also known as "Mossy Foot", Podoconiosis is a fungus that gets into the pores on the bottom of the feet and eventually destroys the lymphatic system. It is a soil-transmitted disease caused by walking in silica-rich soil.This causes one's feet to swell along with many other health implications. Shoes are the most basic solution to many of these health risks. According to the TOMS Shoes website, there are over 1 Billion people at risk for soil-transmitted diseases around the world, and shoes can help prevent it. Mycoskie emphasizes that his company's goal is to not only give shoes, but to also educate others on the importance of shoes.
