I also love history so movies like Invictus and Remember the Titans and Glory and awesome too cause it takes you back to that place and time. Lately since I've been in the journalism school I've started to like watching documentaries. They're real life, informational, and super interesting.

7. A movie I'd like to watch this weekend is The new Sex And The City movie but it's not out yet! crap.

Growing Pains

Why do kids have to grow up so fast? Heck, we do all of us have to grow up so fast? I came across this picture of miss today and my heart broke a little bit. She is just a little nugget in this picture. This is how I see her still, even now. Watching the Young's grow up before my eyes has been crazy. I think I can now understand how my parents must feel watching all of us grow up. Me being in college, Olivia married, I can't imagine how mind blowing that is. Before we know it, Caleb and Cami will be in college and Cody will be going to his senior prom.

Hair 101

I am so bad at doing hair. I can make it wavy, I can make it straight and I can make a phone call to Olivia to do anything else. I love braids and putting braids in my hair. They are so simple and look great! I just need to sit down and learn how to do it to myself. Halp!

I bless the rains down in Africa

So today I sent out my scholarship letters for Africa. SO NERVOUS. The most I work on this, the more it seems real to me. I cannot wait to go there. I am going to be pushed so far out of my comfort zone I'm not even going to know what to do with myself. I know that's what God wants. He wants me to put so uncomfortable, so heartbroken for these people, and so striped of all the things I hold onto and just rely on him. But I know that he always wants me to fall in love with the people, to love on the orphans, to hold those crying babies, and to be so blessed beyond believe with the life I have now. I also am excited to go on a safari. I am crazy about animals and I am so anxious to get to see them in their natural state and not in a zoo! I wanna see a baby elephant, baby tiger, and some simba and nalas ! I saw this image and although it completely contradicts my image of Africa I still thought it was beautiful. I am going from my glamorous life to the HOMELAND. Zimbabwe or bust people !

Mmm MKA

My Sister just blogged a little about MKA and her love, which is actually OUR love. Ever since we were litter we adored MKA. We even made our parents take us to the Atlantis in the Bahama's because that's where Holiday In The Sun was filmed. However, as we grew up .. so did MKA. Our love went from "who stole the great hope diamond" to "did you see their new clothing line?". Whether the fashion world wants to accept it or not MKA are fashion icons. Alter Ego

I also stumbled upon this image and it made me think of another similar escape. Every halloween for the past 3 I have been some form of an indian princess. Whether it was Tiger Lily (my absolute favorite character from Peter Pan), Pocahontas, or my own version of the two I found a way to make it a reality. I think Tiger Lily might be my alter ego. She was this tough but still adorable Indian Princess. She's sarcastic, sassy, and a leader. Sound familiar?

Just one of those days

Where I felt like the walls were closing in on me. My stress level is high , and I couldn't quite seem to calm down; I needed an escape. To me there are a few different ways to help relax me on days like this. Sometimes it's taking a nap, if its nice sometimes It's taking a walk, when I'm feeling sad sometimes it's watching Friends, but today it was something that I hadn't done in a long time. Before my dreams of being a journalist and making my way into the world of sports and Nike I wanted to work in fashion. My mom was a model and passed down the love of that to me. Although my career didn't last very long, some of the moments I felt most alive was when I was out doing a photo shoot. I love choosing outfits, themes, locations, and creating a story line (which if you think about it's some what journalistic is it not?). Keep Calm

It's week four. Anchor Splash has started, midterms are well on their way, TOMS party is being put together, my Africa trip is now a reality and fundraising needs to begin, and my classes are getting more difficult. I have papers, interviews, blogging, tweeting, and many more things to do in the coming weeks. I need to remind myself to ...

I have a problem ...

I have a problem with finishing books. I love reading, absolutely love it. However, I will get really into a book for a couple weeks read about 3/4's of it and then put it down, never to be picked up again. Three books that I have started this year are , Jesus Wants To Save Christians by Rob Bell, Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis, and Chasing Daylight by Erwin Mcmanus, These three books are both great, but I have yet to read the last 40 or so pages. I feel as thought the only times I ever finish a book cover to cover is in the summer or when I am on vacation (also if it is Harry Potter). I think books that you can pick up and read just for a little are better for me. I love cook books, coffee table books, biographies with pictures, and artistic magazines. I want to change this though. I want to finish what I started. I need to come up with a game plan or take time out of my day to read, for pleasure :)

Room Re-Do

Although I would love to stay in my double room with Ellen and our bunk beds for the rest of my college experience it's time to move on. Blogging about what I want my house to look like had me thinking about what I want my room to look like next year. I'm ditchin' the posters and pictures taped allllllll over the walls and going for a different look. I posted some picture of some ideas that I had. First off I want a really different and interest bed spread. I currently have a black on and I think I want something a little more bright! I also loved the picture of the desk below. I know I can't have an awesome study with book shelves and what not but I like the idea of maybe having a cool chair in my room that's not swivel and a terrible bright blue. Some other things that I could add to my room would be a nice lamp, a huge cork board with pictures and inspirations on it , and flowers? I am not a flower kind of girl. I don't like getting them and I never thought that I would ever really want them in my room. However a girl in my house, Jill, has a GORGEOUS potted plan in her room and I loved it. I think that I am starting to change my mind of the whole flower thing. I liked how in the picture below they put flowers in interesting tins, it seems more my style. Another change that I am going to make is to not put a thousand pictures on my wall. I am going to pick a few great pictures of my family, friends, Nick, and hopefully from my trip to africa and find some really cool frames for them! For me, the less clutter the better. I also have a really great world map that my Dad bought me at a garage sale and I would love to incorporate that into my room as well.

Style Your Sole

The TOMS campus club at the University of Oregon, which I am apart of, is throwing a style your sole party. At this party students can come, bring their blank TOMS, and paint them! This event is super important to us because it donates straight to the cause. For every pair of TOMS bought and painted at this party, there are a another pair made for a child in need. This one for one movement by TOMS takes an act of buying into an act of giving. I hope so get a large crowd painting that day, I know I will be !

Dreaming

I'm always day dreaming of what I want my house to look like when I'm older. I started pulling pictures and here are some things I've come up with. I want my house to be super warm and welcoming. I also noticed that as I was pulling images that I always lean towards things that are more on the white side, which was kind of unexpected for me! I also am planning on having an awesome TV/sports room with old vintage sports pictures all over the walls.I love houses thatlook classic on that outside, a beautiful but practical kitchen, an eating are that has a picnic table (I fell in love with the picture below), and I have always wanted a wall in my house that all black and white pictures of my family from a long time ago, my family now, and friends ( and I liked the idea of having some chalk boards to write love notes on). :)

What a beautiful day

Today was such a gorgeous day in Eugene. I go to lay outside all day and my freckles even came out! I had no homework, nothing to do, it felt like vacation. I even got to read part of my book. I hope this weather lasts, it puts me in such a better mood and helps me not to be so cranky all the time. But it also made me realize that I need some more summer clothes! Shopping time :)

Stylish Saturday

I saw this as I was browsing through some blogs this morning and fell in love. I have a few button down shirts in that beautiful light blue color and I love them. These looks are so classy and simple, very easily done. I love the touch of purple with the clutch, the gorgeous trench coat, and high wasted jeans.

This verse is often read at weddings, in movies, and in churches all over the world. But to me, it is the most over looked passage in the bible. Of course love is all of these things, it's love, love is awesome. However, looking at this passage and diving deeper into tonight I learned a lot more than I expected. Taking each section apart and really thinking on each statement is really powerful.

Love is patient. There are so many areas of my life that need patience. I need to be patient with my friends, with the girls I live with , with my boyfriend, with my family, with my classes and teachers. I need to stop thinking I have ownership and the right to snap at someone because I decided not to be patient. I need to remind myself to not do things out of selfishness, or be boastful, or keep recorders of the wrong doings of my friends and family. But I fail.

The only reason why I can continue to try and love the way that I need to is because the love that I am shown through christ. Because he loves me this way, and am so undeserving of it, I feel special. I feel taken care of. I feel like there isn't anything I can do that that will make him not love him. He never fails.

And that is how I want to love.

Love never fails.

Viva la toile!

I saw this on Design Sponge and they shared with their readers that they loved toile and I couldn't be more on the same page. Ever since I was little I just loved toile. My mom and I are constantly looking for things that are toile because they are kind of hard to find. A good friend of ours, Mary Skaggs, has some furniture and pillows that are this print and they look great in her house! One day when I have my own home you can bet I'll have an entire toile room! Ok, maybe just a few pillows or accessories! But the reason why I love these aprons so much is that they are fun colors of toile (not just the usually black or darker blue) and I just love aprons. When my sister got married she was given some super cute aprons made by friends and one passed down through our family! The Reilly's are known to be pretty good cooks and I too someday hope to fill these shoes, but I think I need one of these aprons first. :)

My new favorite show

Nick and I started watching Parenthood on NBC and it has quickly become a favorite. I love the relationships between all the brothers and sisters of this family. They are all hilarious and I love how they interact with each other. I also love how close they are as a family. Family is the most important thing and no matter what happens in the show they always come back together and have each others back. I also love their parents house in the show. They have this cool backyard with an awesome rustic table and chairs where they often eat dinner together. The theme song is forever young by Bob Dylan and I think it fits perfectly.

On a sunny day ...

This is looking really good! I love making drinks like this. My mom and I are always mixing some kind of juice with some kind of carbonation. The sun is shinging in Eugene today and and I'm starting to feel spring coming on so in the next couple of weeks I'll be drinking something similar to this!
